Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for:

  • The operation of the Department of Code Enforcement and enforces compliance with non-criminal codes and ordinances. 
  • Enforcing city ordinances and receives applications for Chapter 505.13 Permit Required to Keep Certain Animals, 541.10 Signs on Public Property, Chapter 557 Noxious Weeds, Chapter 559 Removal of Litter, Chapter 713 Junkyards, Chapter 737 Tree Surgeons, Chapter 741 Yard or Garage Sales, Chapter 901 Sidewalks, Chapter 905 Trees, Chapter 909 Excavations and Demolitions, Part Eleven Planning and Zoning Code, Part Thirteen Building Code.
  • Assisting citizens with applications, forms, general information and requirements for permits.

Residential & Commercial
Permits for the following must be obtained prior to starting any construction:
Zoning, Floodplain Development, Curb Street & Driveway, Zoning Use, Right of Way, and Stormwater 

Please submit to the Belpre Code Enforcement Office located at 715 Park Drive, Belpre, Ohio 45714, Phone 740-423-7592.

Commercial Building Permits (includes everything, except 1, 2 & 3 family dwellings) must be submitted for Plan Approval to the Washington County Building Department, located at 217 Putnam Street, Marietta, OH 45750, Phone 740-374-4185.  In addition to the permit from the WCBD, applications for Business Use Permits Floodplain Development, Curb Street & Driveway, Zoning Use, Right of Way, and Stormwater  are also required to be submitted to the Belpre Code Enforcement Office located at 715 Park Drive, Belpre, Ohio 45714, Phone 740-423-7592.
