The Belpre Tree Commission volunteersโ€”Maxine Mobbs, Sheila McCloud, Leslie Pittenger, and Joyce Jonesโ€”were busy at the Apple Butter Stir-Off on Sunday, sharing tons of information about tree planting and care, plus fun activities for the kids! ๐ŸŒฑ

If you missed them, donโ€™t worryโ€”youโ€™ll see them at more upcoming events. Our Tree Commission is dedicated to offering educational opportunities and planting trees throughout the community. ๐ŸŒณ

Mayor Abdellaโ€™s Report โ€“ October 14, 2024

โ€ข New Officer: Warren Moyer was sworn in as a new patrolman for the Belpre Police Department.
โ€ข Akron Hospital Groundbreaking: A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Akron Womenโ€™s and Childrenโ€™s Hospital on October 8, a vital new facility for the community.
โ€ข City Grant Committee: The first meeting was held on October 7, generating great suggestions and offers to help secure funding for critical projects.
โ€ข Staff Updates: The city has onboarded three new employees โ€“ Jacob Holman (Water Dept.), Brandon Miller (Code Enforcement), and Warren Moyer (Patrolman).
โ€ข Fire Department Recruits: Welcome to new recruits David Dodd and Todd Riffle.
โ€ข Ambulance Purchase: Intent to purchase submitted, with delivery expected between late November and January.
โ€ข 2025 Budget: Work has started, and software issues are being addressed.
โ€ข Lead Service Lines: The city is working to meet the EPA deadline for the water line survey. The final report will be available on the city website in November.
โ€ข Street Department: The City of Athens is interested in purchasing our Kenworth snowplow, and we are working to replace it with a new vehicle that is more appropriate to our communities needs.
โ€ข Fire Truck Repairs: Our tower truck will be repaired in McConnelsville, with damages estimated at $12,770.
โ€ข Moratorium Request: I am requesting council consider a freeze on elected officialsโ€™ wages for 2025 to ease the burden on citizens.
