MAYORS COURT

Mayor’s Court Schedule and Traffic Violation Consequences
The Mayor’s Court is held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 9 am.

Consequences of Unpaid Parking Tickets:
If a parking ticket is left unpaid, it will not simply go away. In addition to being sent to a collection agency, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will take steps to ensure payment. Failure to pay the fine will result in the inability to renew the license plate and obtain a renewal sticker, making driving illegal until the fine is settled.

License Forfeiture Suspension:
A license forfeiture suspension is imposed when an individual is charged with a misdemeanor and fails to appear in court or pay a court fine. To reinstate the license, the individual must obtain an official court release for the license forfeiture and pay a reinstatement fee.

Warrant Blocks:
A municipal or county court may report individuals with outstanding warrants to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), leading to the denial of the ability to apply for or renew a driver’s license or vehicle registration. To lift the warrant block, an official court release is required, along with the payment of a reinstatement fee.

Habitual Use of Alcohol/Drugs Suspension:
A person with three or more convictions of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within a three-year period will face a suspension. Reinstatement requires completion of a treatment/rehabilitation program, maintaining six months of sobriety from the date of treatment program completion, and submission of a completed Alcohol/Drug Reinstatement form to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Temporary Identification Cards:
Temporary ID cards can be issued if an individual is under suspension and their license is not expired. However, they cannot be issued if there is a warrant block on the individual’s record.
