The Belpre Municipal Civil Service Commission will hold a COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION for the purpose of filling eligibility lists for the following job classification:

City of Belpre: Police Department Dispatcher

Duties:
Works as Police/Fire/EMS Dispatcher; works rotating shifts; Communicates with the Police, Fire Department and the General Public; and Posts appropriate information to the Police Department computer data base. Hourly salary is $21.24 based on 2025 effective pay schedule.

Requirements:
Experience in Computer Skills, Phone Communications Skills, and Personal Contact Communication Skills. Your application must reflect that you are proficient in the above skills either by appropriate formal training or by work experience. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and withstand a satisfactory background investigation. Must be willing to take and pass
the Emergency Medical Dispatch certification or currently have the EMD certification.

Cost:
There is a $25 Non-refundable Fee for taking the examination. This fee is required when the application is received. Do not send cash. Checks or Money Orders should be made payable to the City of Belpre Municipal Civil Service Commission. If the Fee is not included with your application, it will not be considered. You cannot pay your fee on the day of the examination.

Candidates desiring to be considered for the above position must file an application with all of the required documentation. (NO RESUMES WILL BE ACCEPTED.) Applications can be obtained from the Belpre City Website (www.cityofbelpre.com). Application must be completed and mailed to the Civil Service Commission, P.O. Box 503, Belpre, Ohio 45714 and must be received by February 23, 4:00 p.m. Do not submit your application to the City of Belpre. All applications must be mailed to the above P.O. Box to be considered for the position.

Veterans must include a copy of their DD-214 with their applications to be considered for Military Credit. Credit for Military Service will be considered for all applicants with a passing score.

Testing: Please arrive at Washington County Career Center on time for your testing appointment. Failure to appear for any Civil Service Examination will result in the placement of your application in our inactive file. Laborer II Street/Water

The Belpre Municipal Civil Service Commission will hold a COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION for the purpose of filling an eligibility list for the position of Laborer 2—Street/Water. This is to complete a POOL of eligible candidates for a potential full-time position with corresponding benefits. Testing will be scheduled through Washington County Adult Technical Training Center. Successful applicants will receive a call from the center to schedule date and time for testing.

Starting wage $20.86 on the 2026 Pay Schedule.

Requirements:
Applicant must hold a valid driver license; be a high school graduate or higher; have the ability to operate the following equipment backhoe, tractors, grader, roller, jackhammer, air compressor, dozer, trac-hoe, ditcher, sewer line camera, jetter, saws, drills, pumps, hand tools, mowers, sweeper, welder, light and heavy duty trucks, snow plow, salt spreader. (These items are just examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive. Those hired will be trained on the equipment listed above. You must have a passing score to be considered for the position. Hirees might encounter inherently hazardous or physically demanding working conditions. In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor, physical demands strength ratings, this is considered heavy work.
