Position: Sewer Plant Operator 1

Reports to: WWTP Supervisor

Position Description:
The employee works in and around sewers and unsanitary conditions; works with chemicals, works around motorized equipment; is exposed to gas, noise fumes, and wet walking surfaces; works in inclement weather conditions (e.g. Snow, sleet, rain, etc.)

Ability to operate and repair equipment such as: D.O. meters, pH meters, floride meters, chlorine meters, sludge filter press, pressure washer, computers, SCADA monitoring system, maintenance equipment; hand tools and motor vehicles. Properly maintains and makes necessary repairs and replacements of pumps and motors.

• Must possess a valid State of Ohio Class 1 Waster Water Treatment License or obtain within 18 months. Paygrade shall be “ Plant Attendant” scale until licensure is obtained.
• Must be capable of dealing with public in a professional manner.
• Must Possess a valid drivers license, including the ability to be covered by the City’s insurance provider.
• Normal work hours are a day and afternoon rotating shift schedule. Planned and unplanned overtime are critical functions of this job classification. There is a holiday and weekend obligation.

Starting Salary in 2026 with a WWTP 1 License is $24.72. If no license Plant attendant is $22.76.

License must be obtained within 18 months.
